I own a 200hp 4 stroke suzuki that is due for an oil change, problem is, my local dealer says they have no suzuki oil because Suzuki is "testing" the oil and there will be none available until April. They recommend using Tohatsu oil as that is what they're using until they get more zuke oil in.I have never used anything other than zuke oil,is it okay to go to Quicksilver or should I hold off.Has anyone else heard of this or is someone blowing smoke.

Who is your local dealer? I just got an oil change last friday. My local Suzuki dealership didn't say anything like this to me.

Lake Area , I called today(2-22) to get oil, filters, ect. and this was what they told me.I have been searching for info on the net since and have not found anything.Just curious if there was a real issue or they were trying to just sell me what they had. Will post if I find anything.

If it has the same API rating, they are the same.
They cannot void any warranty if it has the same rating.

Thanks, the motor is out of warranty I have just always been preached to to use Suzuki Oil only. Didn't know why, just assumed there was an additive they required. Will change it this weekend with Merc. oil

Don't have to worry about oil changes with a 2 stroke
