Just got station at Ft Polk and can't wait to hit the big lake. Me and my wife are die hard fishermen and will fish from sun up to sun down every chance we get. We both are excited about the idea of fishing the rock jetties and no closer than 250 ft of the weirs. We love specks, reds and flounder and anything that will bend a rod. Looking at the map we plan on launching from Dugas Landing which gives us the ability to go either direction in the lake without burning through the gas. Any suggestions on the idea of fishing the jetties would be greatly appreciated.

Just checking in now. Suggesst you take some time to ready as many post as you can....lots of good information.

Aug. is probably the hardest month of the year to catch saltwater fish. The Trout and Reds are mosly in the shipchannel and come out into the "flats" to feed.

When it starts to cool off in the fall, this is the best time of the year and lots of trout can be caught up until Dec. when the water really cools off. There are still plenty of Trout and Reds to be caught....but Oct. and Nov. [IMO] are better.

thanks for the info, its been 14 months since i have been in my boat. If all i catch is hardhead catfish it beats nothing.
