fishing muddy water

Can anyone help me out. I plan to fish the cameron area this weekend and the water is normally muddy.. what is a good bait to use in muddy water besides frozen shrimp.. (reds and specs).. what baits and color?

It's not always muddy, it all depends on the rain and winds.

Fish darker colors or something with a scent, fish a clacking cork or fish topwater with something that makes a noise.
