This looks like a great site, glad I came across it. I am getting my son into fishing, just got him an 18' express/70hp Evinrude(used of course) we use it alot, the hard part has been finding the fish other than croaker,hard heads etc. we mainly fish the river around devils elbow or clooney island. I can't wait to try some of the reefs in big lake now that I have a clue to where they are.

Head a little farther south and get into Big Lake.......This time of the year, seagulls will be feed on shrimp that the fish [Trout or Reds] are chasing.

When you find birds......approach them very slow with your trolling motor from 150+ yards away. Don't get too close....keep back one casting distance. If you don't have a trolling motor.....go up wind 150 yards, and a little to the side so you will not drift right into the schooling fish. Have your anchor ready.......and slowly [with no splash] lower your anchor when you get close to the birds.

Almost any soft plastic on a 1/4 oz jig head should catch you some Trout.
