I am looking for a camp, cabin, or maybe a camper spot to rent near the south end of Big Lake or at Cameron. Went there last Friday for a day trip and don't want to do that again, since the drive to and from Cameron was 2 hrs from the house. Looking for somewhere where I can leave the boat in the water. I am non smoker, Don't Drink anymore, Will be bringing wife, boat, and three children 5,5,14 Yrs old. I saw the ones for rent at heberts landing but that looks like a long ride to the south end. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!

There is no place on the water to put a camper in Cameron at this time.
There is a place to put a camper, but not close to the water.
And there is no place to keep a boat in the water down there either.
It is a waste down there since Rita and Ike. Not like it used to be.

Ray, Aren't there camper spots at the Jetties? Rent by the day, would be OK for a week or so. That's pretty close to South Big Lake. Boat launch close but can't leave your boat in the water.

There are camper spots at the Cameron Jettys. But no place to leave your boat in the water.
There is also campers for rent in Holly Beach, with a launch by the ferry on the West side, but again, no place to leave the boat in the water.
South end has place to leave a boat in the water since the hurricanes.
Campers(3) for rent in Holly Beach, with porch and picnic table, (337) 569-2318
Holly Beach RV Park, with cement slabs, (337) 569-2109
There is a new RV Park in Carlyss and the Choupique launch just reopened with stalls available.
Don't remember the name of the RV Park, it is on the East side of the road, with the office up
on a big hill.
The Choupique launch number is (337) 583-2575, but this is on the North end of the lake.
That is probably our best bet at this time.

I have some property on the ship channel for sale or lease that allows RV's, with some small restrictions. Give me a call at 337-489-9202 to discuss.

I have an RV at the A-Plus Motel/RV Park in Carlyss. It is a really nice place all concrete, nice pool, bathhouse and laundry room. Video security and on sight maintenance guy. Super nice folks always go the extra mile to make you feel at home.
They also welcome your boat with electric hook up for your boat batteries.

I now have lots with water access available ( across the street from two boat launches) for sale or rent in Hackberry.
