Calcasieu Point Landing

If you have never launched your boat @ Calcasieu Point Landing, you are really missing out. This place has got it all. This is my launch of choice for a number of reasons. It was definately built with the angler in mind. Here is a list of the amenities:

Public Restrooms: There are several portable bathroom facilities on the location.

Boat Launch: Calcasieu Point Landing has a three lane public boat ramp which allows access to the Industrial and Intracoastal Canals which is adjacent to nearby Turner's Bay and Big Lake. The boat launch is open to the public 24 hours a day & is free of charge.

Industrial Canal fishing pier: Offering you access to the same great fishing as from the bank, the fishing pier adds the extra amenity of an open air pavilion that is the perfect place to have a picnic or get out of the sun for a bit.

Facilities: Steve & Elaine run a full service store which offers snacks, beverages, ice, etc. and live bait when available. I have found that Calcasieu Points bait shop is the most reliable source of live shrimp anywhere on the lake. Store hours are seasonal with the exception of January and February when the store is closed.

Fish Cleaning Station: Calcasieu Point has a fish cleaning station setup with the angler in mind. There are large stainless steel tables & sinks available for anglers to clean their catch when they return to the launch. The cleaning area is equipped with running water & an electrical outlet @ each sink. Several hand soap dispensers have also been added recently. This amenitie is also available free of charge. Please remember to clean up after yourself & rinse down the cleaning tables when you are finished.

The physical address is: 3955 Henry Pugh Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605

Phone # (337) 479-1536

As you can see, this place is truly first class & is a great asset to anyone looking for easy access to the lake. Below are just a few pictures of the facility. Stop by the next time you head out on the lake & tell Ms. Elaine we sent you! If you ask nicely, she might tell you where the fish are hiding! ;)

The best just got even better. If you haven't visited the Calcasieu Point Landing lately, they have installed a nice plastic fillet pad at each sink.
Now you don't have to chase down a piece of wood to keep from dulling your knife on the stainless steel counter.
They also added rock around all of the walk ways where is was beginning to erode.
Congratulations to dmack@cppj.net and crew(Heath).
Let's all do our best to keep it clean.

Oh and guess what? The brown pelicans are back in force.
I'm glad they didn't go extinct but I wish they would stay off the wharf.

Saw and used the new cutting boards today.
Them Pelicans are going to get too used to eating fish heads.
They will starve when no one catches fish.

I launched here this past Sunday for the first time. I was very impressed with the setup they have. Very friendly people in the store & bait shop. This place is top notch & I'd highly recommend it to anyone coming down from out of town. :onbottom:
