Getting ready to start a new tackle box full of tackle to wear the Redfish out. I've been extremely faithful to the ol' golden spoon, but need some advice from the pros on new tackle to purchase. Any brand names, colors, weights would be greatly appreciated.

Spinner baits......go to Walmart or Academy and get a couple of the H & S Coastal spinner baits. These are the kind where you can change the type of bait on the spinner. Put a gulp on the spinner and you have a good combination.

Or get you some "IN-LINE" type spinner baits......they work great to catch Reds.

Most people don't use spinner bait to catch Trout.....but they are good for catching Trout.

I would also recommend getting a pack of the small gold color spinner wire forms that have a spinner blade but no bait. They come 3 to a pack. They are cheap and will rust after a month or 2.

Set the drag a little light because they are made with small wire and a big Red can be hard on them. Theses small spinner baits are also good for catching flounder when fishing it with a small jig head and soft plastic bait [yellow grub or gulp].

Buy a couple different size spoons. The heavy one are good on windy days.

There are a varity of "crank" bait that all will do good to catch Red fish. Baby min-1 and Rattle traps are just 2 of many that are good.

Im no pro but I have used the gold spoon a lot and have caught a lot of reds on the spoon. I have used the chart. swim mullet by gulp and the 3 inch pearl shrimp by gulp under a bomber pooping cork and have caught good numbers on it. The only other thing that I have caught reds on is a bandit 100 series crankbait chrome with black back and crawfish color. Change the hooks to a VCM or Owner hooks because they or stronger.

As far as a spinner bait I have used them several times and have never caught anything on them. Not saying it don't work.

I personnaly don't like the pooping cork cuz of the smell but they do work.

Cheap academy h20 express spoons r Johnson sprite my favs catch just as much as those expensive ones

Great responses fellas, with some really good info. Has anyone had any experiences with the Bomber "Who Dat" Rattling spoons?

I have tried bomber spoons with no luck. They do look good running thru the water tho.. I have caught reds on any colorado blade(gold) spinner available. I like rigging w gulp.
