New boating law in Louisiana

Postby Ray » Thu Jun 16, 2011 3:55 pm

The boating legislation said U.S. Coast Guard-certified motor vessel captains could be exempt from required state boating safety classes.
Present law says people born after Jan. 1, 1984, can operate a boat powered by a motor in excess of 10 horsepower only if they have successfully completed boating safety classes approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

Evidence of that instruction has to be in a person’s possession when he or she operates a boat.
