Newbie question

Hello. Newbie to the site and saltwater. Live in NW La. I know this is a kayak section, but was wondering if pirogues are a good idea on Big Lake? i don't have a kayak, but I DO have a one man pirogue that's pretty stable (banditmarine.com). Not having any experience down there, but knowing big lakes in general can get treacherous, just wanted to get an impression of what y'all think about the idea.

I wouldn't go far away from land. And wear a PFD.
Some fishermen in Big Lake are not good boaters.
They will swamp you just to get a look at you.
