Flatstalker ?

Does anyone have a Flatstalker. I saw this odd looking thing and it seems to be pretty nice, easy to fish from. I just hate to spend close to $1,000.00 on something that seems to be somthing that it isn't.

I have never used one but I looked into it a year or so ago and decided against it because everyone I talked to said it doesn't handle choppy water very well. A trolling motor is also recommended for it if you are in water too deep for a push pole. The thing is SLOW!!!

Bottom line, if you are fishing anywhere with the possibility of choppy water, get something more along the lines of a Native Ultimate that is stable and roomy enough to stand up in but will also take a boats wake if necessary. An Ultimate would also be cheaper since you wouldn't need a trolling motor.

This "boat" has a very limited application, and I can't see much use around Big Lake. You can't go far, b/c it's a bear to paddle, and slow. you can't go where there is much boat traffic either. Seems like its only advantage is the ability to stand. It might be great if you had access to the marsh behind the weirs on the SE corner of the lake. If I were going to spend $1,000 on a kayak to fish Big Lake, I'd go with a Native Manta Ray 14' or WS Tarpon 14'. Fast boats that can take waves well and stay dry. Both are good boats to paddle the distances you need to kayak fish on Calcasieu. If standing is important to you, look at the WS Commander or the Native Ultimate. However, kayaks wide enough to stand in are generally slower, and most are more canoe than kayak.
